DESCRIPTION: Competition will be held Saturday, July 26, 2008 at York Expo Center-Memorial Hall East beginning at 9:00am with groups. Doors will open 8:00am. Competition will include the three major baton twirling organizations.  The following includes standards established to help judges evaluate the participants.  Since each twirler or team comes from any one of the three organizations, some modifications have been made to allow fairness and true competition between the three organizations. Team size: small teams=4-8 members; large teams=9+ members.  Timing for Teams is 2-4 minutes (10 second leeway either way).  Teams will be timed from the first beat of the music until an ending pose/salute or formation is performed by the entire team.  Team music is chosen by the coach.  Team divisions are computed by the average age of the team based on 12/31/08.  Uncontested teams will perform and place.  Props are not allowed.  Soloists and 2 baton may march/walk toward the judge when their name is announced OR begin twirling on the first note of the music.  Timing begins and ends with the start and finish of the music.  Timing for primary and juvenile Solo is 1.5 minutes, Junior, Senior and Collegiate Solo is 2 minutes; all 2 baton competition is 1.5 minutes; and all teams are 2-4 minutes. Duet and Trio divisions are computed by average age of the members based on 12/31/08.  Duets and Trios like soloists may march/walk toward the judge when their name is announce or begin twirling on the first note of the music.  All Duets and Trios are 1.5 minutes.  To make lodging reservations visit http://housing.yorkpa.org or call 1-888-858-YORK.
