ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY
ALL ATHLETES must be Pennsylvania
residents (see exceptions in specific sports text) of amateur status as defined
by each sport’s national governing body. Residency is defined as having
established a Pennsylvania
residence at least 30 days prior to participating in any tryout, qualifier, or
competition conducted by Keystone State Games, Inc.
- PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION
a non-refundable entry fee and correctly completed
entry form are required of all athletes for each sport entered. Refer to
each sport for specific entry guidelines, fees, and deadlines.
- For sports with tryouts/trials/qualifiers, athletes
may only compete for one region - their region of permanent residence.
Athletes temporarily residing in another region at the time of
tryouts/trials/qualifiers due to school or employment may compete for
their region of temporary residence instead of their region of permanent
residence, but not both. Athletes
must obtain prior permission from the Competition Committee.
- Team sports may use more than one tryout in a region
to provide the opportunity for more athletes to compete. Athletes may
compete in more than one sport at the finals, with the following
exceptions:
- A person may not compete in two team sports that
have players selected to rosters based on tryout performance, regardless
if the competition overlaps or not. The intent is to give more people the
opportunity to be part of the finals.
Team sports are baseball, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer, and
volleyball.
- A person may not compete in two sports that are
scheduled for competition on the same day.
- A person may compete in two sports as long as
neither or only one of the sports is a team sport, and the competitions
are not scheduled to be held on the same day.
