DESCRIPTION: Competition will be held Sunday, July 25 at the York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., York. Modified WTF rules will govern competition.

 

Olympic-style Sparring MANDATORY Sparring Gear - Helmet, Shin Instep pad, Forearm pad, Chest protector, Groin Cup (for male competitors) and Mouthpiece Age and Rank Rules Rounds 11 years and under (color and black belts)

 

No head contact at all Two 60-second rounds 12-17 year old color belts Black belts 12-13 years Junior Safety Rules (Controlled head contact with kicks – no hands to head)

 

Two 90-second rounds All Belts 18 years and older Black belts 14-17 years Senior Rules (Full head contact with kicks – no hands to head) Color belts - Two 90-second rounds Black belts – Three 2-minute rounds

 

There will be no weight divisions for Forms or Breaking Forms WTF competitors must do the form appropriate for their rank Non-WTF competitors must do a comparable form also appropriate to their levels

 

WTF-sanctioned (Taeguk and Palgwe) forms will be rated higher than non-WTF rated forms WTF-Sanctioned Forms by Rank

4th Dan Pyung Won 2nd Gup - Taeguk 7 or Palgwe 7

3rd Dan Taebek Blue Belt 3rd Gup - Taeguk 6 or Palgwe 6

2nd Dan Keumgang 4th Gup - Taeguk 5 or Palgwe 5

1st Dan Koryo Green Belt 5th Gup - Taeguk 4 or Palgwe 4 6th Gup - Taeguk 3 or Palgwe 3 Yellow Belt 7th Gup - Taeguk 2 or Palgwe 2 8thGup - Taeguk 1 or Palgwe 1 White Belts may do Basic Forms 1, 2, 3 or Taeguk 1

 

Forms will be judged on degree of difficulty, power, accuracy of strikes, balance, and focus. Competitors should do the form associated with their rank for the highest possible score.

 

Competitors will be allowed to perform one style up/down of their target form. This may impact scoring. Creative Breaking Only wood may be broken.

 

Competitors will be allowed three stations. Color belts will have three attempts to break. Black belts will have two attempts. Larger and/or thicker boards will be rated higher. Kicking techniques will be rated higher than hand techniques. Jumping and/or spinning techniques will be rated higher than standing techniques. Multiple boards will be rated higher than single boards.

 

Non-spaced boards will be rated higher than spaced boards. Power Breaking Only wood may be broken. Competitors must use 1” thick boards. Non-spaced boards will be rated higher than spaced boards. The competitor who goes through the most boards on a single technique will be the winner. In the event of a tie, another break will be required to declare a winner.

ELIGIBILITY: Taekwondo athletes may compete in as many events as they would like (pending eligibility requirements), but in only one division per event. Final determination of events will be made after weigh-in. NJ, DE, MD, WV, OH, & D.C. athletes are welcome to compete in 2010 Keystone Summer Games with no additional fees. Novice Up to 1 year karate experience (white and yellow-orange) Intermediate 1 to 3 years karate experience (green and blue) Advanced 3 or more years karate experience (brown-red, and black)

 

ENTRY PROCEDURE: Send the entry form and $35 entry fee to Keystone State Games, Inc., P.O. Box 1166, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703-1166. For walk-on information, participants must call the taekwondo director. Walk-on entry fee will be $40. ENTRY DEADLINE: Friday, July 9, 2010. Apply early!
