DESCRIPTION: The Keystone State Games in cooperation with the York White Rose Wanderers brings Volkssporting to the 2009 Summer Games. The Wanderers are part of a worldwide network of similar clubs, all of whom host and take part in volkssporting events. “Volkssport” means people’s sport. This year the Wanderers will be hosting 5k and 10k walks. The trails are marked and have checkpoints along the way. This is a non-competitive walking event for people of all ages. It is not a contest of speed or endurance. Participants go at their own speed, and may begin any time within the stated start times. Registration is required. All events will begin and end at the York Expo Center, Toyota Arena Lobby 334 Carlisle Ave., York, PA. Events will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26. The courses traverse the west side of the City of York and the Borough of West York. Participants must start between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM and finish by 4:00 PM. The $10 fee includes full Keystone State Games athlete privileges.

ENTRY PROCEDURE: Send the entry form and $10 to Keystone State Games, P.O. Box 1166, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703-1166. Walk-on registration will be accepted. A $3 fee will be required for IVV-AVA credit for each event and paid at the starting location. DE, MD, NJ, and WV athletes may register in this sport by submitting an additional $10.00 out of state fee.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Friday, July 17, 2009. Entries postmarked after July 16, 2009 will be considered walk-ons.
